Jan Horn specializes in the sale of architect-designed
houses.
His passion
for architecture together with his extensive knowledge of architectural
houses has led him to enormous success in the marketing and sales
of these homes.
Horn is the founder and executive director of Coldwell Banker’s
Architectural Division. Under his leadership the CB Architectural
Division has sold more architect-designed houses than any firm in
Southern California
“Ever since I can remember, I have been thrilled by architecture”
says Horn. In fact, Jan believes that many of the architectural
houses he sells are works of art and have a true collector value.
Horn firmly believes that architect-designed houses are worth far
more than their normal counterparts. He recently sold a famous Lautner-designed
house (the Wolfe house) which he said “belongs as much in
the Museum of Modern Art as it does on the site it occupies”.
Horn has sold architectural houses designed by a virtual Who’s
Who in the world of architecture, including John Lautner, Richard
Neutra, Lloyd Wright, Buff & Hensman , Craig Ellwood, Wallace
Neff, Paul Williams, Quincy Jones , Charles Eames, Eero Sarinen,
Ray Kappe, Marshall Lewis, Peter Choate, Edward Fickett, , Michael
Pearce, Gregory Ain, Gordon Kaufman, Brien Murphy, John Byers, Phillip
Brown, Frederick Fisher…to name just a few.
Jan Horn is a member of the California 100, President’s Circle,
and the Coldwell Banker President’s Elite. Jan has the rare
honor of having sold one of the world-famous Case Study Houses (Case
Study House #9, the Entenza house-designed by Charles Eames and
Eero Sarinen), together with the Johnson house designed by Lloyd
Wright, the Rainbow house designed by John Lautner, and the Sandler
house by Buff and Hensman.
In addition, Jan is a nationally recognized speaker and educator.
He has created the Master Series seminars, the Architectural Specialist
program, and most recently the Certified Negotiator Program.
Jan was recently featured as a guest speaker at the Museum of Architecture,
the Museum of Modern Art in La Jolla, the Prada Museum and the New
School of Architecture in San Diego. He was featured in Newsweek,
Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Who’s Who In America, Coast magazine,
San Diego Business Journal, Los Angeles Business Journal, Variety,
Hollywood Reporter, and the Los Angeles Times. He is also an affiliate
member of the American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles Chapter.
Jan has written several monographs including “Your Architectural
House is Worth More” and “Smart Houses” as well
as serving as a guest writer for the San Diego Business Journal.
